Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO PICK UPS AND DROP OFFS WORK?

We try to make it as convenient as possible for you. We can do pick up and drop offs with or without someone home.  We work with each pup's family on an individual basis.  If you are not going to be home, we will work with you on a way to access your pup for their Adventures (e.i. spare keys, garage codes, putting the dog in your yard etc.)

We also make pick ups and drop offs work with house and pet sitters.  So even when you are on vacation your pups can still go out on their Adventures.

We can also pick up from one location and drop off in a different location. We can pick up and/or drop off from jobs or offices.

WHAT VACCINES ARE REQUIRED?

For your dog's and others safety, we require dogs be up to date on parvo, distemper, and rabies vaccines. We also highly recommend Bordetella and canine flu vaccines and flea and tick protection, especially during the warmer months.

WHAT DO I SUPPLY FOR MY DOG'S FIELD TRIP?

We require all dogs to wear a harness so that they can be safely buckled into their bus seat. Harnesses should fit the dog snuggly to prevent them from being able to slip out of them.  Feel free to send your dog in other attire such as coats or boots but keep in mind they may be lost or damaged as dogs play hard.

WILL MY DOG GET DIRTY?

We hike adventure spots all over the Treasure Valley and your pup will play in snow in the winter and water in the summer.  They will run through brush, mud, sand, and more.  They will likely get dirty, but they will have a great time!

DO YOU HAVE BREED RESTRICTIONS?

Absolutely not!  Your dog's temperament will be assessed during their meet and greet and during hikes to ensure that they are enjoying their time outside and with the other dogs.  Your dog must be able to get along with other dogs as our goal is to make sure all the dogs in our care are having a woof-tastic time.

What about CHEATGRASS?

Cheatgrass is a concern for dogs all over the Treasure Valley.  It is found in the foothills, desert areas, and around water ways.  It is even present in backyards, driveways, fields, and lots.  We do our best to keep our hikers safe from cheatgrass awns becoming embedded in their skin, ears, or nose by checking pup over and removing any awns we see in sensitive areas as well as a quick brush when we see large numbers in the dog's fur.

Keeping your dog's coat short if possible (especially around ears and paws), brushing out your pup often, and keeping an eye out for symptoms of cheatgrass embedment is the best defense against cheatgrass issues for our adventurers during hikes in the spring and summer months.  You can find more information from our friends at Pawspital Animal Hospital here.

What about Rattlesnakes?

Rattlesnakes are the only venomous snakes in the area and while we do our best to avoid them, they are certainly out there.  Fortunately rattlesnakes are able to warn us of their presence. We make sure to keep our eyes and ears open at all times for potential hazards including rattlesnakes.  When we do come across snakes, we recall all the dogs and pass at a safe distance.

Rattlesnake vaccines are available at most vet clinics for those who would like the extra precaution.  You can also find rattlesnake aversion training clinics for those that wish to teach their dogs to avoid snakes.

How far out should I book my dog's Adventures?

With limited seats on the Adventure Bus, we recommend getting your Adventure requests in as soon as you are able. This helps us be able to make sure our routes are manageable and that we can take your dog to the best Adventure Spots!

We close all hikes when they reach capacity or at 5pm the day before.

*All Adventures must also be canceled by 5pm the day before to avoid being charged.

Do you hike in the rain and snow?

Definitely! Unless there are safety or road concerns, we Adventure in the rain, sleet, snow, or sun.  The pups love our rainy days and snow days just as much as our sunny lake days!

Do you hike in the summer heat?

Yes! We work around the heat with doing lake days or trail with bodies of water so the pups can cool off.  We also run our pick up routes earlier to make sure we can be the mid day heat.  We also carry water on the trail and have a big hydration break at the end of all hikes no matter the weather.

What is your typical group size?

Our maximum group size is 14 dogs. We do this to ensure that safety off all the dogs in our care.
